risk-taking
There's a difference between a successful risk-taker, and a risk-taker who succeeds. I think the latter has a better sense of timing than I usually do. I'm typically hesitant, and lose out because I wait too long in acting on whatever opportunity is in front of me. Then it passes. On the other hand, I am getting better/quicker. In a diving class I took I learned that a 1 1/4 somersault (a.k.a. "spinning belly-flop") doesn't hurt as much as it seems it should. Lose a fear of water, and ya lose some fear of risks. Still, I shirk back sometimes on the board and need to take another breath before I jump.
C'est la Vie! A stinging belly (and sometimes face) is a good sign.
