Back from AERA

I'd like to create a SIG (Special Interest Group -- see how jargony I've become after the AERA conference -- that's "American Educational Research Association" for those of you aren't "with it"), for mysterious studies in Education, and call it "AERA 51"

So, I'm back in Madison after a fabulous week in Montreal, where I'd like to live, where gays are (largely) treated with respect, where good coffee is everywhere but good chai is a rare treat, where the people are nice and the panhandlers aren't shy about calling you a M***r F***er unless you cash over. Montreal: It's like Europe and Canada wrapped around a mountain, with Cirque de Soleil and Buckminster Fuller thrown in for good measure.

In short, I love Montreal. I'd live there if they let me. I'd even be happy to learn French.

But for now I'm back in Madison, and will be putting up notes I took from the conference as soon as I can (posted on the days I took the notes), and hope to add to the posts my own processed thoughts -- once I get a chance to revisit them and do some actual processing...
