Christian hero?
Didn't think I'd ever find one, ever since I realized Paul dealt out a really pretty horrid perversion of Christ's teachings. But tonight after finishing level 16 of Tomb Raider 2, Tavis Smiley was on PBS with John Shelby Spong, and I have to say, he made some serious sense. I may have to take another look.

Yeah, I suppose it gets crazy down there at the "rock bottom" of sin [snicker]. I guess, nichole, I'm curious how he deals with the character of Paul, who I feel is the anchor of mainstream christianity -- or at least *was* until they (apparently) abandoned Jesus' teachings and the New Testament altogether.
And, seven, I enjoy your creative spirit. Keep on writing/thinking/changing/evolving.
Mmm, yes, Paul. Despite my religious upbringing I'm still a spritiual lightweight, and Paul (and Bishop Spong) are prominent on my "to-be-contemplated" list. Thanks for the reinforcement, actually.
OK, back to the sinning. It's hard work!

Er, I'm a dork. Sorry for double-posting.
Upon further reflection, I'd pay to see Oswald Sobrino and John Spong have a nice cup of tea together.
I guess I have to disagree that "Paul dealt out a really pretty horrid perversion of Christ's teachings," John. Shake it the way you like, but Paul is responsible for some of the most clearly anti-bigotry passages in the New Testament... but I think we've had this discussion before...
