gamers reshaping business

Thanks to Nichole for alerting me to The Shifted Librarian's article Got Game on the Brain, which includes a link to a 17 minute interview of John Beck, who wrote Got Game: How the Gamer Generation Is Reshaping Business Forever. "Forever" is a very long time, so I'm skeptical, but I'm also hopeful that business will get reshaped, 'cuz it's generally pretty horrible/greedy now. Will gamers make it better or worse? Don't know yet. I'll tell you in about 20 minutes...

Verdict: Gamers are very good at doing many things at the same time. They grew up in a world that responded to them. They feel they can make a difference because their characters/avatars are very empowered. Beck makes them seem very selfish -- that's not a good sign for "Reshaping Business Forever" the way I'd like to see it reshaped. hmm. work to be done...
